The VHSL released its master football schedule that includes schedules for every public school football team in the state.
The schedule is largely the inverse of last season’s slate as the second year of the 2015-2017 cycle begins. One notable difference is Monticello has replaced last year’s season opener with Lake Taylor with a home game against Cesar Chavez Charter out of Washington, D.C. on August 26. The Mustangs face Turner Ashby and Spotswood at home in their other two out-of-district games, giving Monticello six total home games.
Western Albemarle, by comparison, has just four home games this season. Western will host their annual rivalry clash with Monticello September 23 while the Warriors and Albemarle will meet November 4 at Albemarle.
Charlottesville and William Monroe lock up in an out-of-district clash September 16.
The Matt Hicks era at Nelson County will open with a road game against Luray. Four of the Governors’ first five games are on the road.
Goochland and Fork Union will lock up on September 2 in what’s become a standard out of district matchup for the Bulldogs and Blue Devils.
Newly-minted Buckingham County head coach Josh Wallace’s first game as coach of the Knights will come on August 26 against Appomattox on the road.
