Covenant baseball shuts out Charlottesville

With a combined five-inning no-hitter from Declan Kent, Luke Burton and Tyler Mahone, Covenant’s baseball team beat Charlottesville 13-0.

 

The win pushed the Eagles to 5-1 on the season.

 

Covenant’s offense blasted out 15 hits in the win, with six players posting multi-hit efforts and eight different players finishing with RBIs. Will Moore opened up that assault with a home run in the bottom of the second inning. Moore finished with a 2-for-2 performance and knocked in another run with a triple. Trent Miller went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Luke Burton also had a triple while going 2-for-3 at the plate while Blake Schaar and Aaron Leathers each had doubles. Jake Haney and Mahone each went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

 

Kent picked up the win with three innings of work, striking out two without allowing a walk. Burton and Mahone posted also didn’t allow a hit in an inning each, with Burton striking out three and Mahone striking out another.

 

Dalton Richardson struck out two in less than an inning of work, allowing just one hit for Charlottesville in relief.
