Woodberry lacrosse holds on against Collegiate

Behind a solid first half, the Woodberry Forest boys lacrosse team managed to get up early against Collegiate and hold off a fourth quarter rally to pick up  9-5 win on Friday.

Mark Monroe provided two of the Tigers’ five first half goals. Woodberry led by as many as seven goals and defensively imposed its will, not allowing a Cougar goal until the third quarter.

Collegiate scored four times in the fourth quarter and got to within four goals of the lead, but could not get any closer.

Monroe finished the game with four goals and an assist. Griffin Burke has a pair of scores and an assist. Both Hatcher Williams and James Malm tallied a goal and an assist.

Burgress Robinson stood tall in net for the Tigers, stopping 10 shots in the second half and finished the game with 13 saves.

Woodberry (7-1) travels to archrival Episcopal today at 4 p.m.
