WFS takes third in VISAA golf, Ridge’s Hickman grabs individual fifth

Woodberry Forest grabbed third place Monday in the VISAA Division 1 golf tournament as the Tigers’ squad carded a cumulative 312, just four strokes off champion Collegiate’s 308 and a stroke behind second place Cape Henry.

The Tigers’ Shep Hardison put together a round of 75 at Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk, good for seventh place overall while Tyler Grills put together a 78 for Woodberry.

Several other Central Virginia standouts put together strong efforts during the championship as well. St. Anne’s-Belfield took seventh place with a 332 while Blue Ridge’s Chris Hickman put together a strong individual performance for the Barons, tying for fifth place individually in Division 1.

Over in Division 2 where the top three scores count instead of four in Division 1, Covenant School finished in sixth with a cumulative score of 250.

Maclain Huge of Middleburg won the individual title in Division 2, carding an incredible 66 to win the title.
