Western Albemarle’s girls tennis team got the postseason going Monday afternoon, rolling 5-0 past Turner Ashby in the opening round of the Conference 29 tournament.
Emily Kochard rolled at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory and Lauren Kearns and Maggie Roesch also logged 6-0, 6-0 wins. Maddie Ix picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 and Stephanie Barton coasted 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4.
The top-seeded Warriors (17-0) advance to take on the winner of the Broadway/Fort Defiance game Tuesday at 5 p.m.
