Western Albemarle girls tennis got Region II play started off with a bang with a 5-1 win over Kettle Run Monday afternoon in the quarterfinals.
The Warriors got wins from Emily Kochard, Megan Wright and Claire Park to get the day started at the one, three and four spots respectively. After a loss in the sixth slot, Fran Clifton and Cari Bland closed out the win with Bland gutting out a three-set victory 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
The Warriors will head to Woodgrove for the regional semifinal Wednesday.
