Western girls lacrosse rolls over E.C. Glass

Western Albemarle got off to a quick start and took control from there Tuesday night against E.C. Glass

The Warriors rolled 17-1 over Glass to move to 2-0 on the year. For the second time in a weeks, Ellen Shaffrey poured in six goals to lead the Western offense. Shaffrey also came up with six draw controls and eight ground balls.

Shaffrey’s play helped boost Western to a 3-0 lead just three minutes into the clash with Glass, but the Warriors spread the ball well throughout a 10-goal first half. Seven different players scored before the break,

Glass finally broke through in the second half with a goal by Shelby Davies, but Western was in control by then and already showing off its tremendous depth. By the end of the game, nine Warriors had accounted for goals while another five chipped in with assists. Jeannette Fellows registered a hat trick with three goals and also had a pair of assists. Mady Baker came up with two goals while Anna Liebowitz had a goal and two assists.

Christine Fortner and Maya Langman combined for six saves and Fortner even got in on the scoring action with an assist on a Western goal.
