Western girls lacrosse drops CHS

Western’s girls lacrosse team had a little trouble containing Jayme Kusyk, Charlottesville’s explosive scorer, but the Warriors clamped down on every other Black Knight and had plenty of offense of their own.

Western picked up an 18-9 victory over the Black Knights to stay unbeaten in West Central Division play.

Faris Wallenborn and Sammie Magargee had identical stat lines on the night as each had four goals, an assist and three draw controls. Kate Snyder also got in on the scoring act with a hat trick while Ellie Allen finished with a pair of goals. Mary Margaret Holden, Olivia Rentz, Reilly Funk, Hannah Plantz and Julia Wood rounded out the scoring with a goal each. Hamilton Ibbeken had four saves between the pipes for the Warriors.

Kusyk led all scorers with five goals and an assist for CHS while her sister Kellyn Kusyk had two goals and eight draw controls. Emmy Timberlake had two goals for the Black Knights while Emily Banbury had four saves.

The Warriors will play Fluvanna County Tuesday night while the Black Knights matchup with Albemarle.
