Western Albemarle baseball got a busy week started with a 5-0 shutout victory over a solid Spotswood squad Monday.
The Warriors’ Luke Tenuta threw 5.2 scoreless innings, striking out four and allowing just a pair of walks. Chris Hughes then closed out the game with one and a third innings of shutout work with one strikeout.
Western piled up 13 hits as a team. Henry Kreieinbaum had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Sam Hearn and Hughes both went 2-for-4 with an RBI, with Hughes blasting a pair of doubles while Hearn had one double that careened off the outfield wall.
Matt Mandell went 2-for-2 while Ryan Sukovich, Chris McGahren, Tenuta and Chase Campbell each had a hit.
Western softball beats Spotswood
Western Albemarle’s softball team beat Spotswood 3-1 Monday night, taking advantage of some of the Blazers’ errors to pick up the victory.
