Western Albemarle boys lacrosse edges E.C. Glass

Western Albemarle’s boys lacrosse team picked up a critical early season victory Thursday night, pulling out a 4-3 overtime victory over a tough E.C. Glass squad on the road.

The Warriors actually jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Thomas Dudley and Justin Haws. But E.C. Glass bounced back in the second half to take a 3-2 lead that held strong until the later stages of the game.

The Warriors trailed with 30 seconds to play when Haws broke through again, evening the score at 3-3. The goal forced overtime where neither squad could find the back of the cage until late in the period when Schuylor Dickerson managed to score and lift Western to the win.

Senior goalie Ben Carew put together a sterling effort in the cage to hold an explosive Glass offense to just three goals while sophomore longstick midfielder Kent Henry won 10 of 11 faceoffs for the Warriors.

The Warriors get a long break until April 9 when Western takes on St. Xavier at home.
