Warriors boys lacrosse cruises past Rapids

After a tough first quarter, the Western Albemarle boys lacrosse settled in Tuesday night to cruise past James River, 10-1.

The Warriors were up by just a goal heading into the second quarter, but with the defense lead by goalkeeper Ben Carew and longpoles Sam Dupont, Christian Pierce and Reid Brannock, it was of little concern as Western’s offense got hot in an eight minute stretch to tack on four goals.

Up 5-1 as the second half began, the Warriors doubled their goal total over the next 24 minutes while they shutdown the Rapid’s attack.

Owen Wagensteen led the Western offense with a hatrick and an assist. Turner Whitworth scored twice and had an assists. Tyler Ward gave the Warriors three players with multi-goal games. Abbot Wallenborn found the back of the net once while also chipping in a pair of assists. Carew made eigth saves in net.
