There’s no doubt that the Virginia Independent School Athletic Association Division I lacrosse tournament, like the weekly poll has all year, has a distinctly Central Virginia flair. St. Anne’s-Belfield earned the No. 1 seed after an incredible regular season and they’ll draw a familiar opponent in Woodberry Forest. The Saints topped the Tigers 11-6 a little over a week ago on May 5 and the Tigers have stumbled of late, including a loss to St. Christopher’s Friday.
Blue Ridge, in just its second year competing in Division I, earned the No. 5 seed. They’ll face another new addition to Division I, Christchurch School, who earned the fourth seed. The Barons will travel to Christchurch for the quarterfinal.
St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes earned the two seed and it’ll host Paul VI while Episcopal earned the No. 3 slot. The Maroon will host St. Christopher’s, a dangerous six seed who lost by just a single goal to STAB and beat Woodberry last week.
Over in Divison II, Covenant School earned the No. 3 seed behind No. 2 North Cross and No. 1 Hampton Roads Academy. Covenant will host Nansemond Suffolk in the quarterfinals.
The semifinals and finals of both Division I and Division II will be played Friday and Saturday at St. Anne’s-Belfield.
