Three local lacrosse standouts earn All-American awards

A trio of local lacrosse players earned All-American nods from U.S. Lacrosse this week.

Colin Bressan, St. Anne’s-Belfield’s senior goalie, Blue Ridge’s Tyler Pace and Woodberry senior keeper Ben Pugh all earned All-America honors.

Bressan, who’s planning to take a postgraduate season, saved 67 percent of the shots he faced and picked up 47 ground balls while earning All-Prep League honors and the Saints’ team MVP award.

Pace, who’s headed to Denver, poured in goals all year for the Barons, scoring 80 on the year. He also dished out 72 assists for an incredible 152 points on the season.

Pugh, who’s headed to Richmond, saved 65 percent of the shots he faced in the Prep League, picked up 63 groundballs and was named the Tigers’ MVP for the second year in a row.

Will Tucker, who starts at UVa as a Jefferson scholar this fall, was chosen as an Academic All-American. Tucker is Woodberry’s all-time scoring leader and poured in 44 goals and dished out 22 assists while earning All-Prep and All-VISAA honors.

Duncan Morris, a Charlottesville-native, also earned a nod out of Christchurch, a VISAA semifinalist in Division I. A pair of Highland standouts — Jarod Kind and Jack Micciche — picked up awards too. Highland beat Covenant in the Division II championship game.
