After playing most of the game in a tie, Meridith Bower provided the difference. She and her Tandem Friend teammates were in search of the team’s first state title, and on Saturday at Ukrop field in Richmond, the Badgers picked up the win in the VISAA Division 2 championship againts Trinity-Meadow View, 2-1.
Tandem found itself in a 1-0 hole halfway through the first half, but answered back quickly as Kate Moody tied the score back up on shot off of a corner kick from Gillian Gardener.
After Bower put what went on to be the game winning goal, the Badgers locked down on defense and held off a fistful of Trinity scoring chances with the help of Amanad Owensby and captain Hannah Hellman.
