STAB drops Virginia Episcopal for third win

St. Anne’s-Belfield made short work of Virginia Episcopal Saturday, jumping out to a big lead in the first quarter en route to a 46-0 victory over the Bishops.

The Saints got going when Thomas Harry found Isaiah Kilby-Sharp for a 35-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter, and then Harry sprinted in from 14 yards out just a couple of minutes later. Chase Emmert then found Myles Ward for a 31-yard touchdown with 2:40 to play in the first quarter, and STAB was off to the races.

The Saints piled up 424 yards of total offense and got a lot of it through the air, with Harry and Emmert combining for 200 yards and four touchdowns in a 6-for-6 passing performance. That passing attack and some strong carries by Juwan Woodson (five touches, 64 yards and a touchdown) and Harry (38 yards and two scores) allowed the Saints to take some of the load off of Jaylen Alexander who has been a workhorse back of late. Alexander rushed for 46 yards on six attempts.

Nicholas Reese’s lone catch of the day came when he hauled in a 77-yard touchdown from Harry to open the second half and put the Saints up 33-0.

The Saints’ defense stepped up too, allowing just 74 yards by the Bishops, none of it through the air. VES managed just three first downs.

STAB closes out the season Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Norfolk Academy at home.
