St. Catherine’s girls lacrosse clips Albemarle

Albemarle’s girls lacrosse team nearly picked up a major victory Wednesday night, but the Patriots couldn’t hold on after a strong second half by St. Catherine’s vaulted the Saints to a narrow 15-14 win.

Sasha Walmsley led the way for St. Catherine’s offense with four goals and an assist while Eliza Costas finished with three goals and an assist.

Albemarle managed to take a 6-5 lead at the half and the Patriots’ offense that’s been particularly potent this year had four scorers post hat tricks or better.

Rebecca Mendelsohn led the way with four goals while Kristen Mendelsohn and Connor Carson had three goals each. Carson also had an assist while Hanna Shaps finished with a pair of goals.

Albemarle keeper Kelsey Rund finished with 11 saves on the night.

Albemarle is now 4-1 and plays next home against Battlefield on Friday at 7 p.m.
