Spring Roundup 4.2.15: Orange baseball, Covenant softball grab wins

Locust grove

Orange County’s baseball team evened its record with a 6-4 victory at home over Culpeper Wednesday, pushing the Hornets to 2-2 on the season.

Bradley Hanner’s 13 strikeouts in a complete game effort led the way, as the sophomore surrendered just two earned runs in his seven innings on the mound. He walked just one batter.

Dalton Jobe gave the Hornets a jolt at the plate with a 2-for-4 night that included an RBI and a run. Kendall Bayless hit a double Trevon Smith, William Yager and Hanner all knocked in runs.

The Hornets will face Madison Thursday in a second straight home game.

Covenant softball rallies for win

Covenant’s softball team was down going into the seventh, but the Eagles roared back to beat St. Catherine’s 13-9 Wednesday on the road.

Charlotte Hendrix picked up the win in the circle with a complete game effort. Covenant’s Soobin Han went 2-for-3 and reached base four times with a pair of walks.
