Spring Roundup 4.1.16: Albemarle boys and girls soccer, Covenant and STAB girls lacrosse pick up wins

Albemarle’s boys soccer beat Orange County 4-0 on Thursday night.

 

The Patriots’ Junior Rivera-Hernandez, Andrew Weber, Eliya Budugur and Daniel Starr scored a goal each while Brendan Moyers, Robert Palma-Galeas, Arslan Kadirov and Weber notched assists.

Matthew Booth and Thomas Leckrone combined for four saves in net for the Patriots.

 

Albemarle girls soccer blows out Orange

 

Albemarle’s girls soccer squad shut out Orange County 8-0 Thursday night in the Patriots’ final game before spring break.

Seven different scorers struck for the Patriots, with Katie Schnell scoring twice to lead the way. Sunny Gelnovatch, Hannah Eiden, Sheila Ford, Brooke Bauman, Leticia Frietas and Gracie Williams each scored a goal. Williams, Gelnovatch also had assists while Makinna Winterton dished out two assists.

The Patriots didn’t face a single shot on goal as the Albemarle defense protected the shutout.

 

Covenant girls lacrosse beats St. Margaret’s

 

Covenant’s girls lacrosse team cruised past St. Margaret’s School Thursday, rolling to a 19-1 win.

Maysn Whitten poured in seven goals for the Eagles while Liz Llera piled up four goals, Lizzy Shim registered a hat trick and Megan McGlothlin scored twice.

Hannah Grace Gayle, Money Moye and Morgan Jones had a goal each.

 

STAB girls lacrosse beats Holton Arms

 

St. Anne’s-Belfield’s girls lacrosse squad made quick work of Holton Arms Thursday, rolling 16-6. The Saints built an 11-1 lead before halftime.

Annie Cory notched five goals and an assist while Caroline DiGiacomo scored four goals and dished out an assist. Claire Schotta scored twice and finished with two assists. Sarah Bauer and Carlin Maurer each had two goals. Katie Define had a goal and an assist for the Saints. McKenzie Maurer had a pair of assists.

Brittany Schoeb and Molly Morris combined for eight saves on 15 shots in the cage for the Saints.
