Spring Girls Roundup 4.1.15: Covenant soccer, Monticello lacrosse, others pick up wins

Monticello’s girls lacrosse team is picking up steam, with the latest win coming Wednesday night in the form of a 21-4 blowout of E.C. Glass at home.

The Mustangs scored 14 first half goals to build a 14-2 advantage before halftime. Monticello controlled the ball early on, but it took them 10 shots to get on the board, with E.C. Glass goalie Haley Roeser saving seven of the first nine shots while the others sailed wide. A flurry of scoring from the Mustangs followed, with Bailey Mincer assisting twice and scoring once during the 25-second, three-goal explosion. Paige McGlothlin started the scoring off a Mincer assist, then Mincer scored unassisted off the draw. Mincer capped the run with an assist off another fast break, this time finding Summer Larese.

Albemarle girls tennis shuts down Louisa

The Albemarle girls tennis team played for the 2nd night in a row and picked up a 9-0 win, this time on the road against Louisa.

“We’d like to have played better but we’ll take the win, load the bus up and try to learn from this one,” said Albemarle coach Rich Lindsay. “We looked a little unsure at times out there and credit Louisa for that.”
