Covenant’s girls soccer team blanked Stuart Hall Tuesday night, rolling 6-0 to pick up the win.
Becca Zimmerman led the way with two goals and an assist for the Eagles. Madison Fagan, Abby McCartney, Makenna Patterson and Sanita McLaughlin each had a goal. McKensie DeJong notched a pair of assists while Fiona Bradshaw, Julia McCartney and Becca Zimmerman all three had an assist.
Caroline Gaffney posted a clean sheet in goal for the Eagles with McCartney, Grace Sorenson, Molly McGraw and Chloe Mitchell in front of her on defense.
Annandale girls lacrosse slips past Western
Annandale High edged out Western Albemarle Tuesday night, handing the Warriors their first loss of the season with a 15-14 victory over the Warriors.
Hanna Schuler and Bella Moriconi led Western with four goals each while Ellie Allen and Sammie Magargee each had two goals. Audrey Russell and Hannah Plantz scored a goal apiece.
Hamilton Ibbeken managed 12 saves for the Warriors while facing a dizzying array of shots from the Atoms.
Ashley Britton exploded for eight goals for Annandale to lead the way for Atoms.
The Warriors will try and get back in the win column Friday on the road against Douglas Freeman.
Western girls tennis sweeps Orange
Western Albemarle girls tennis’ team’s state title defense is off to a solid start as the Warriors moved to 2-0 on the year Tuesday, beating Orange County 9-0 for their second straight sweep.
“I love how we’re starting the season with good energy and positive play,” said Western coach Ellen Markowitz.
Thursday the Warriors will try and make it 3-0 on the road against Charlottesville.
