North Cross football accelerates past St. Anne’s

St. Anne’s-Belfield’s road clash with North Cross started well enough Saturday with the Saints jumping out to a lead on the Raiders as a young STAB squad continues to try and find its footing.

But North Cross opened the flood gates in a high scoring second quarter, building a lead they didn’t relinquish en route to a 56-20 victory for the Raiders.

Miles Lowman’s 266 yards and four touchdowns through the air combined with another 158 from freshman Isaac Harris on the ground to power the North Cross offense. Nariq Bailey checked in with 139 yards on nine catches in the aerial attack.

STAB built its early 14-7 lead on the strength of a 54-yard Jaylen Alexander touchdown in the opening two minutes of the game and a Nicholas Reese to Isiah Kilby-Sharp 21-yard touchdown throw. But Lowman and Harris went to work after that, with three of Lowman’s passing touchdowns coming before the break.

Thomas Harry and Reese split time throwing for STAB with Harry going 4-for-9 for 96 yards and a touchdown to Reese from 42 yards out while Reese was 3-for-7 for 29 yards and the early score.

Alexander put together another solid outing on the ground with 147 yards on 27 touches for the Saints. He also had an interception and five tackles on defense.

Kilby-Sharp’s 47 yards on three catches led the Saints’ receivers. Gabe Sanok led the Saints’ tacklers with eight stops including two for a loss. Thomas Harry and Juwan Woodson registered seven tackles each.
