Monticello’s girls basketball team got all it could handle from Albemarle Saturday but the Mustangs held on for a 62-59 victory over the Patriots.
The Mustangs got a balanced offensive effort, with Meghan Comer’s 12 points leading the way. Molly Shepard, the Mustangs’ other sophomore standout scored nine points lefthanded as she’s sporting a cast on her right hand currently. Bridget Holleran also had nine for Monticello.
Emily Larrabee had eight on the night, while Reagan Roberts, Kiana Scott and Cierra Hall notched seven each. Lyra Payne also finished with three points.
Albemarle put together a solid performance just a day after beating Orange County and three Patriots put together double-digit nights. Alexus Anderson had 18 points, Samira Hussaini 13, and K.K. Barbour scored 17 points.
