Monticello band hosts Jefferson Classic, AHS wins highest honor

Monticello High hosted The Jefferson Classic, one of the area’s biggest marching band competitions, Saturday and Albemarle High’s band took home top honors, scoring an 84.714. The score wrapped up the Jefferson Bust, the competition’s championship trophy.

Anything from 70 and up is considered an excellent score.

The Patriots’ performance entitled “Pursuing Red” outpaced A Division Eastern View’s 83.714 and AAA Division George Washington who had an 83.286.

Madison County checked in with a 79.643 which was good for second in AA and Charlottesville High’s band posted a 78.500 in the competition, which earned the Black Knights a third place in AAA. Fluvanna had a 69.286 while Orange County had a 74.500. Orange took second in the A Division.
