Monroe boys and girls beat Brentsville

William Monroe boys basketball is rolling right now and the Dragons kept it going with a 58-42 victory over Brentsville on the road for their ninth-straight win.


Alex Kinsey powered the win with 25 points and five boards while Logan Barbour dished out six assists to go with his 12 points. Troy Jones snagged five rebounds while Calvin Turner pulled down eight boards.


After starting the season 2-3 before eventually moving to 5-4, Monroe has reeled off nine straight wins with six of them coming in the Northwestern District. The Dragons have four games left in Northwestern District play.


The Dragons will try and make it 10 straight at home Monday night against Manassas Park.


William Monroe girls hold off Brentsville

William Monroe’s girls basketball team beat Brentsville Friday night 36-28.


Martha Apple just missed a double double with 12 points and nine boards while Bryonna Woofter had nine points, five boards, eight assists and a pair of steals.


Jenna Velasquez notched three points, two steals and four rebounds while Iyanna Carey snagged six rebounds. Allie Whiteheart and Mara Woolford each had four points


The Dragons hit the road Monday to take on Manassas Park.
