Madison County’s girls soccer team beat Clarke County yesterday 1-0 in the Bull Run District semifinals. Samantha Cubbage scored the game’s lone goal with just over 12 minutes remaining in the contest.
The Madison defense, led by goalie Tori Puryear, notched their 11th shutout of the season. Madison will travel to defending Group A State Champion George Mason on Thursday for the District Finals.
With yesterday’s win, Madison clinched a spot in next week’s Region B Tournament and will host Appomattox at 5 p.m. on Monday in the tournament quarterfinals.
