Johnson, Buckingham boys cruise past Prince Edward

Behind a big night from Cam Johnson at the free throw line, Buckingham County improved to 4-1 on the year as it dispatched Prince Edward at home, 63-46.

After building a 4-point lead in the first quarter, the Knights outscored their host 18-8 in the second to go up by 14 into the second half. Buckingham’s offense slowed in the third quarter, but kept Prince Edward at bay by 13. In the fourth, the scoring picked back up and the Knights padded their lead before wrapping up the win.

Johnson poured in 22 points and was 12 for 14 at the charity stripe. He wasn’t alone either, the Knights dropped in 25 points from the foul line. Joining Johnson in double figures were Antonn Briley and Kevin Bolden who each had 10 points. Bolden had a monster night on the glass with 15 rebounds to go along with five blocks.. Both Johnson and Caleb White had seven boards. White and Briley led the passing game with four assists a piece. Tarian Ayers had four steals.

Buckingham (4-1, 1-0 James River) is on break until January 4th when it picks back up with Randolph Henry on the road.
