The William Monroe boys basketball team managed to hold on to the momentum they developed over the holidays, and got a much needed Jefferson District win with a 62-58 victory over visiting Louisa.
Desmon Shaver and Markel Faulkner both came up big. Shaver had a game high 23 points and was 11 for 12 at the foul line. Faulkner put up a strong double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. For Louisa, Allen White led the way with 14 points.
Elsewhere, Charlottesville got back to business at home against Goochland with a convincing win, 55-34. Meanwhile, Orange picked up a JD road win by dispatching Western Albemarle, 64-54.
All six of the aformentioned teams are back in JD action on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Charlottesville travels to Orange. Monroe heads to Goochland. Western will go to Fluvanna County. Louisa hosts Monticello.
