Hanner tosses no-hitter, pushes Orange baseball past Fluvanna

Bradley Hanner was untouchable Tuesday night.

Orange County’s ace threw a no-hitter while surrendering just three walks and striking out 19 for one of the top pitching performances of the season and an 8-0 Orange win over the Flucos.

Hanner, who also spun a one-hitter earlier this year against William Monroe, was just two strikeouts off the VHSL single game, seven-inning record with the 19 strikeout effort. Orange committed just a single error on the night as well.

Hanner also did a lot of the heavy lifting at the plate for the Hornets too, posting a 3-for-4 night with two runs and an RBI on three singles. He was the lone Hornet with multiple hits as Orange took advantage of eight Fluvanna County errors. Dalton Jobe and Tre Smith managed an RBI each while the Hornets’ other five runs were unearned.

Orange scored a pair of first inning runs and then started tacking on runs again in the fifth inning as Hanner stayed in a groove.

Jake Fulk threw a pretty solid game for the Flucos, who beat Western Albemarle just before spring break a little more than 10 days ago but couldn’t turn that into a wave of momentum. Fulk surrendered just two earned runs in 4.2 innings of work while striking out nine while giving up a single walk and five hits..
