Albemarle golf beats Powhatan, finishes second in tri-match

 

Albemarle’s golf team picked up a win over Powhatan this week 166-176 with Jack Robbins’ 37 leading the way for the Patriots. Brogan Ezell, Ryan Porter, Chase Northcott and Justin Peck all carded scores from 42-44 as the Patriots rolled to a win.

 

Thursday, the Patriots took the course again, this time in a tri-match at Birdwood against Eastern View and Fluvanna County. Eastern View picked up the win with a 169 as a team while Albemarle took second at 171 and Fluvanna finished with a 191.

 

Ezell led Albemarle with a 41 in the tri-match while Robbins had a 42 and Porter and PEck finished with 44s.

 

Orange golf beats Culpeper

 

Ryan Dodson and Colby Romasco both carded 41s Thursday as the Orange County golf team beat Culpeper 171-203 to pick up a dual match win at Lake of the Woods.

 

Trent Carr’s 44 and Anthony LaCava’s 45 rounded out the scores that counted for the Hornets.

 

Culpeper’s Noah Brear finished with a 41 to lead the Blue Devils.

 

Charlottesville golf picks up a pair of victories

 

Charlottesville’s golf team wrapped up the regular season with two victories this week over Orange County and Powhatan. With the wins, the Black Knights finish 13-1 and enter the postseason with a head of steam.

 

The Black Knights beat Powhatan 155-181, with Zach Russell’s 37 setting the pace. A.J. Stouffer was right behind him with a 38 and Emmy Timberlake finished with a 39 while Banks Northington shot a 43.

 

Alex Oliver and Whit Stephens led Powhatan with two 42s.

 

At Meadowcreek early in the week against Orange, Charlottesville beat the Hornets 149-164, with Stouffer and Northington sharing medalist honors with rounds of 35. Timberlake had a 37 and Russell finished with a 42.

 

Ryan Dodson led Orange with a 39 while Anthony Lacava and Colby Romasco each had a 41 and Kaleb Marshall had a 43.

 

Charlottesville, Orange, Albemarle, Powhatan and the rest of the Jefferson District will compete in the JD tournament Monday at Lake of the Woods.
