In a press release, Fork Union announced it will induct four new members into its Sports Hall of Fame. On June 25 at the awards banquet for the school, John Dorsey, Jon Richardson, Dale Solomon and Robert Jones will enter the Blue Devils’ HOF.

Dorsey is a FUMA graduate (1980) who went on to play football at UConn and then professionally for the Green Bay Packers between 1984 and 1989. He holds the Packers record for special teams tackles in a season with 35. Since his playing days he’s moved on to the front office, first as a scout and administrator four Green Bay, Seattle and Kansas City. In 2013 he was named the Cheifs Genergal Manager, the position he occupies to this day.

Richardson is from the Class of 1978 and after his time at FUMA he went on play football for North Carolina. The son of Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, Jon became the Director of Stadiam Operations and President of Panthers Stadium LLC between 1996 and 2009. After a lengthy bout with cancer, Jon Richardson died at 53 in 2013.

Another member of the Class of ’78, Solomon was a standout basketball talent who went on to star at Virginia Tech. He is in the top-10 for the Hokies in all-time points, points per game, field goals, field goal percentage, rebounds and free throws made which helped him become a member of the VT Sports HOF in 1994. Solomon was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers in 1982 before playing pro ball in Europe for 13 years.

Jones is a 1988 graduate who played football for East Carolina University. He was 3-time All-American for the Pirates and captained the 1991 team that was No. 9 in the country at 11-1 and beat in-state rival NC State in the Peach Bowl. In 1992 he was picked by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the NFL Draft, a year in which he managed to win NFC Rookie of the Year while the Cowboys won the first of three Super Bowls over four years. He also played for St. Louis and Miami later in his career.
