Covenant boys and girls sweep New Covenant

Covenant’s boys and girls basketball teams both took care of business Friday, sweeping Lynchburg’s New Covenant with the boys winning 51-33 while the girls rolled 60-7.

 

Karsten Graham led the Eagles with 18 points and also pulled down three boards and dished out two assists while Jackson Coppock had nine points, five rebounds and four steals. Jonathan Newton chipped in offensively with nine points and also snagged four rebounds.

 

The Eagles will take on Blue Ridge on Wednesday at home.

 

The Eagles’ girls squad gave up just two points in the final three quarters against New Covenant, holding their opponents to just seven total points. The Eagles led 21-5 at the end of the first half in the 60-7 blowout.

 

Offensively, Margaret Ann Graves finished with a team-high 14 points while Makayla Hargrove had 12 points. CeCe Corbey finished with nine points and Delaney Poindexter chipped in seven.

 

Ellie Walker scored all seven of New Covenant’s points.

 

The girls squad will hos Fuqua Tuesday night.
