Correction to print edition of Scrimmage Play

Correction to print edition of Scrimmage Play:

In our Summer 2011 edition of Scrimmage Play, a column on page 37 indicated that Sanam Singh was the University of Virginia men’s tennis player who left the court in the midst of an NCAA semifinals match. It was not Singh, in fact, who left the court, but teammate Michael Shabaz. Singh was, in fact, the 2011 recipient of the International Tennis Association’s ITA/Rafael Osuna Sportsmanship Award. The native of India is a renowned good sport and is, frankly, an excellent role model for young high school athletes to emulate.

We apologize to Singh, his head coach Brian Boland and the rest of the University of Virginia tennis family. Scrimmage Play sincerely regrets the error.
