Conference Roundup 5.25.16: Nelson, Western girls soccer win conference semifinals

Western Albemarle’s girls soccer team coasted past Fluvanna County in the Conference 29 semifinals Tuesday, rolling 6-0 past the Flucos.

 

The victory advances the Warriors to Thursday’s conference final where they’ll face Broadway at 7 p.m. at Fluvanna County.

 

Katrine Berg led the way for the Warriors with two goals while Emma Ratcliffe, Elizabeth Fabiano, Julia Berg and Katie DeJong also scored. Abigail Zimmerman, Jane Romness and Ratcliffe each had an assist. Outside of Ratcliffe’s goal and assist, all of Western’s goals and assists in the win came from freshmen and sophomores.

 

Nelson girls soccer shuts out Wilson

 

Nelson County’s girls soccer squad shut out Wilson Memorial in the Conference 36 semifinals Tuesday, earning a Region 2A East tournament berth and a spot in the conference final. They’ll face R.E. Lee in the final after the Leemen beat Stuarts Draft 1-0.

 

Allison Wulin scored both goals for the Governors while keeper Madison Gumm posted a fantastic performance with 19 saves to preserve the shutout.

 

Nelson is now 15-0 on the season and will take on Lee Thursday at 6 p.m.

Madison girls soccer fell 9-0 to George Mason in the Conference 35 semifinals Tuesday.
