Charlottesville girls soccer blows past Monroe

It was an onslaught. Charlottesville girls soccer’s offense just kept attacking William Monroe’s defense, taking shot after shot.

The Black Knights kept the pressure on the Dragons all night Monday, unleashing 24 shots en route to a 7-1 victory.

Charlottesville spread the scoring around too, with six players notching goals in the victory. Ellie Von Storch scored twice while Althea Pickering, Kelsey Brownrigg, Mary Hemenway, Kellie Havens and Olivia Levine had a goal each. Levine also registered an assist.

Emily Thomas made seven saves for the Black Knights to anchor the defense.

Monroe’s junior goalie Jill Williamson managed 10 stops against the dynamic Black Knights. Aly Ladd scored the Dragons’ lone goal on an assist from Courtney Sigloh.

Charlottesville (8-1-0, 7-0-0) hits the road Wednesday to take on Orange County while Monroe (2-9-0, 2-7-0) hosts Fluvanna County Friday night.
