Challenging Encounter: Spotswood snaps William Monroe boys’ four-game win streak

In William Monroe’s Valley District boys basketball opener, Spotswood started hot and maintained momentum throughout to secure a 73-32 victory over the Dragons.

After building a 35-14 before halftime, Spotswood couldn’t seem to miss coming out of the locker room. They added 38 second-half points to their lead, leaving William Monroe no breathing room. Rayne Dean led all scorers with 22 points for Spotswood on the night.

William Monroe countered with several players scoring but couldn’t find an offensive rhythm all night. Timmy Guertin led the way with nine points while Parker Hildebrand had seven points and Brady Lam finished with six.

The Dragons will look to bounce back in Valley District play against Turner Ashby Thursday on the road.
