Carson leads Albemarle girls lacrosse past Covenant

Albemarle High’s girls lacrosse team has gotten some bigtime performances out of Connor Carson this season and the trend continued Monday night as Carson poured in eight goals to give the Patriots an offensive spark and in turn an 18-14 victory over Covenant.

Beyond Carson the Patriots were balanced offensively, with BethAnn Parkhill, Olivia Mooney and Nikki Ross checking in with two goals each. Four other players checked in with a goal each. The offensive firepower helped Albemarle build a 10-8 halftime lead.

Covenant’s Taylor Brown nearly matched Carson’s output, unleashing seven goals of her own, and Brown got some help from teammate Charlotte Delany, who checked in with four goals.

Albemarle out shot the Eagles 24-19 in the contest. The Patriots are now 3-2 and hit the road Thursday to tackle private school power Collegiate.  Covenant sits at 4-6 and plays host to Charlottesville Wednesday afternoon.
