David McKenna may not break many long ones but he is perfectly suited to grind it out for Goochland High in the Wing-t.
McKenna’s longest rush was just nine yards against King George Friday night, but he churned out 77 yards on 16 carreis including a two-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter that put the Bulldogs up for good against the Foxes in a 15-6 victory.
Goochland tied the game with 33 seconds left in the third quarter at 6-6 when Lemontre Taylor scored from five yards out.
King George’s dynamic athlete at quarterback Tevin Jones had drawn first blood earlier in the quarter with a 44-yard touchdown pass after a scoreless first quarter.
Goochland moves into Jefferson District play next week with a road game against Charlottesville High.
