Buckingham, Goochland soccer squads play to 3-3 tie

Goochland and Buckingham clashed for James River District supremacy Monday afternoon in Goochland and after two halves and overtime, the two squads finished with a 3-3 tie.

Buckingham got on the scoreboard in the 25th minute with a goal from senior Bobby Dandridge. But it took 32 minutes before another scorer broke through when Goochland midfielder Nick Yuen buried one in the back corner of the goal. Yuen scored again in the 60th minute to give Goochland a 2-1 lead.  Two minutes later, the Bulldogs scored again when senior forward Rashid Socarras finished one off to give Goochland a 3-1 lead.

The Knights didn’t falter though, as Buckingham Sophomore Malcolm Tillerson took off with a breakaway in the 65th minute to get by the defense for Buckingham’s second goal. Buckingham senior forward Mike Amos provided the equalizer in the 80th minute. A scoreless overtime capped the tie match.

Jason Conway had four saves for Buckingham in goal while Goochland’s Chris Hawk had 3 for the Bulldogs.
