In a tight match won by doubles play, Buckingham County’s girl tennis team topped Fluvanna County at home on Tuesday, 5-4.
The Knights went into doubles locked up at three. At the top of the ladder Anna Spears won her match 8-2 while teammates Abby Free and Sam Van Arsdale took their two matchs in the five and six spots.
Spears and Emily Anderson took their doubles match 8-5, but Amy Ragland and Megan Almond fell in theirs. Just as they did in singles for Buckingham, Freed and Van Arsdale came through in doubles, winning 8-3 to put away the win.
With today’s match against Goochland postponed because of weather, the Knights (1-0) will next travel to face the Flucos again, this time on the road on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
