Buckingham boys soccer dismanatles rival Randolph Henry

Buckingham County’s soccer team wanted to make sure it left little doubt in its rematch with Randolph Henry.

Mission accomplished.

After tying the Statesmen in their first meeting, the Knights rolled 5-2, jumping out to a 4-0 lead midway through the second half to put away their district rivals.

Mike Amos struck first for the Knights and he did it immediately after the opening kickoff, notching a goal in the first minute of play. About 20 minutes later, Peter Johnson jumped into the action with another goal that gave the Knights a 2-0 halftime lead.

After the break Buckingham stayed on pace with an early goal for Bobby Dandridge and another Mike Amos tally in the 48th minute.

Randolph Henry cut the lead to 4-1 before Amos struck again, this time finishing off the hat trick for the Knights. Randolph Henry managed one more goal, but couldn’t string a bunch of goals together to mount a serious comeback.

Goalie Jason Conway had five saves for the Knights, aided by a defense that’s surrendered just five total goals on the year. Buckingham hits the road Monday to take on Amelia.
