Blue Ridge lacrosse knocks off Highland

That’s one way to exact revenge.

Blue Ridge rolled 16-8 Wednesday over the Highland School, the squad that knocked Blue Ridge out of the VISAA Division 2 tournament in 2010 in the semifinals.

“It feels good to get it off our back,” said Blue Ridge coach Nic Bell. “The kids played hard and they definitely did a great job. When we could, we stayed out of the penalty box, I was really pleased with the effort.”

Blue Ridge came out hot, rolling to a 5-1 lead in the first quarter before building a 9-3 halftime advantage. The Barons got the job done on faceoffs, winning approximately 66 percent of their chances according to Bell. Cory Takahara, Tanner Fisher and David McSkimming all played a big role in winning the face.

From there, the Blue Ridge offense took over, with Chase Frazier pouring in five goals and Ty Klarner tallying a hat trick and an assist to help spark the high octane attack. Tanner Fisher came up with four goals on the day while Tyler Pace, who scored the opening goal of the game, set the table all day with five total assists.

Blue Ridge’s man-up offense was 100 percent on the day.

The Barons battle with Hargrave Military Academy today.
