Albemarle girls tennis thumps Forge

With just one week remaining in the regular season, the Albemarle girls tennis team racked up yet another 9-0 sweep, this time against Colonial Forge.

Eight of the nine matches were decided by six or more points with third-seeded Tori Kuhn receiving the only challenge of the night, in her 11-9 win in the singles portion of the event.

The Patriots will host their senior night on Thursday which will mark the last regular season home matches for Co-Captains Yvonne Zhang and Vicky Zarate as well as fellow seniors Eva Ng and Kuhn.

And as much success as this team has had so far, Albemarle is trying it’s best to remain humble to avoid being snake bitten.

“Honestly, we’re used to winning (right now),” Zarate said.  “That can be dangerous.  All those teams at the next level are good but they breathe air and drink water just like us.”

The Patriots (11-1, 10-0 Commonwealth) host Riverbend on Thursday at 5 p.m.
