Albemarle’s girls tennis squad is getting into a rhythm that the Commonwealth District has gotten used to seeing over the past few years.
The Patriots knocked off Brooke Point Thursday in their sixth-straight road match, rolling 7-2 to pick up the victory.
Alison Henry led the way at No. 1 singles for the Patriots, winning 10-1. Wins at third, fourth and fifth spots quickly followed from Caroline Chisholm, Kaitlyn Grossman and Julie Shaw.
But it wasn’t so easy for the Pats No. 2 junior Callie Murray who met a stubborn foe in Marion Levner. Murray ground out the win 10-8 for Albemarle.
Brooke Point’s Nicole Calin slipped by Albemarle freshman Stacy Vitko 10-6 and the Blackhawks notched their other win at No. 3 doubles where Deanna Hamlin and Samantha Barger got the best of two more Patriot newcomers in Gabby Balcells and Madeline Bruggerman 10-6.
Albemarle (3-0 in Commonwealth play) gets the chance to host a match Friday when they take on Mountain View at 5 p.m.
