Albemarle girls soccer shuts out Stafford

Albemarle’s girls soccer team’s defense held Stafford to just a single shot Monday night en route to a 4-0 victory.

Patriots keeper Betsy Haugh stuffed that lone shot to pick up her sixth shutout in the year in eight games as Albemarle moved to 7-0-1 overall on the season with the road win.

Maggie Tubridy, Albemarle’s star sophomore striker, poured in three goals for a hat trick. Emily Laytham rounded out the scoring with her first goal of the season. The Patriots got assists out of Nicole Dinsmore, Joy Piirto and Anne Brady in the win.

The Albemarle offense kept the pressure on all night with 24 shots on goal.

The Patriots don’t get much rest as they hit the road again Tuesday night to battle Brooke Point at 5 p.m.
