Albemarle girls soccer explodes in CD opener

There aren’t many better ways to open up district play.

The Albemarle girls soccer team stormed into Commonwealth District play in dominating fashion Friday night, shutting out Brooke Point 5-0.

Emily Davison and Maggie Tubridy each netted two goals, with Ali Starr also scoring for the Patriots.

Solid defensive play from Katharine Waldron, Joy Piirto, Anne Brady, Abby Davison, and Abby Schwab prevented the Black Hawks from recording a shot on goalkeepers Betsy Haugh and Emily Leytham.

The Patriots (3-0, 1-0 CD) have a full slate next week with a trio of district games on the docket.
