Albemarle girls lacrosse outguns Forest Park

Albemarle High’s girls lacrosse team still sits below .500, but the Patriots are winning when it counts, taking their Northwest Region quarterfinal over Forest Park 16-9 in dominant fashion.

As usual, sophomore Connor Carson led the way offensively for the Patriots, pouring in six goals on the night. Carson also dished out a pair of assists. Kristen Mendelsohn, Candace Carey and BethAnn Parkill all notched two goals each to bolster the explosive offensive effort that built an 8-5 lead at the break.

Anna Payne, Nikki Ross, Mai Toms and Hanna Shaps also score a goal each for Albemarle. Parkhill, Ross and Haley Horbaly notched an assist each.

Tess Davis led Forest Park with four goals, but Forest Park generally struggled to push past Albemarle goalie Marie Schneider who had eight saves on the night.

Albemarle is now 6-7 and plays on the road against Battlefield in the Northwest Region semifinals on Wednesday.
