Albemarle girls lacrosse edges Monticello

Albemarle’s girls lacrosse team managed to pick up its first win of the season in a back-and-forth affair Friday with Monticello as the Patriots edged out the Mustangs 13-11.

Albemarle got three strong offensive performances out of Rebecca Mendelsohn, Carolyn Chapman and Gwen Pattison as all three players picked up hat tricks. Julia Hartman also put together a pair of goals while Heidi Karaweik and Lizzy Champman rounded out the scoring. Karaweik also had two assists on the night as did Lindsey Earles.

For Monticello, Bailey Mincer led the way with a hat trick while Summer Larese and Caroline Frier each scored twice. Chloe Barnnock, Sydney Mincer, Virginia Black and Kendal Walin each had a goal. Barnnock, Bailey Mincer, Larese, Frier and Kendall Walin had an assist a piece.

Haley Williamson had seven saves on the night for the Patriots while Carly Harris registered 10 for the Mustangs.
