Albemarle High’s girls lacrosse team needed every single goal it got Thursday night — all of them.
The Patriots pulled out a 17-16 victory over Douglas Freeman at home, with Connor Carson’s six goals and Mai Toms’ five scores leading the way in the shootout. Kristen Mendelsohn also came up with a hat trick to bolster the effort as well as a team-high three assists. Carson chipped in a pair of assists.
Hanna Shaps, Candace Carey and BethAnn Parkhill all had a goal each.
Marie Schneider withstood a flurry of shots by Freeman and finished with 14 total saves. Albemarle piled up 37 shots as a team.
Albemarle now sits at 4-6 and plays on the road against Rockbridge on Monday.
