Albemarle boys swimming takes 10th in Class 5 state meet

Albemarle’s swim teams had some strong performances at Friday’s Class 5 state championships, with the Patriots’ boys taking 10th place while the Albemarle girls finished 22nd.

 

The Albemarle boys scored 100 points, well off the pace of Class 5 state champion Thomas Jefferson, with 197 points.

 

The Patriots’ boys placed in all three relays, taking 10th in the 400 free relay, 12th in the 200 free relay and 11th in the 200 medley relay.

 

The Patriots’ Caleb Smith took fifth in the 500 freestyle and sixth in the 200 freestyle. Nick Ashby took ninth in the 100 breaststroke and 12th in the 200 IM. Thomas Leckrone finished ninth in the 100 fly and Walker Davis took eighth in 100 backstroke and 14th in the 100 free.

 

On the girls side, the Patriots took 12th in the 200 medley relay, 13th in the 400 free relay and 16th in the 200 free relay.

 

Claire Moody was 14th in the 100 free and Sophie Haise took 16th in the 50-free.
