Albemarle boys soccer advances in NW region playoffs

Albemarle’s boys soccer squad lived to see another day with a 2-0 victory on the road Monday night against Patrick Henry-Roanoke.

In the Northwest Region quarterfinals, the Patriots got first half goals from Rowen Perry and Zach Mayo off assists by Luc Fatton and Alex Bohn during a fantastic first 40 minutes by Albemarle. From there, the Patriots held on.

Albemarle’s backline and goalie Matt Natale were rock solid against the Patriots and maintained the Albemarle advantage throughout the second half. The game see-sawed back and forth as Patrick Henry pushed numbers forward throughout the final 40 minutes.

The victory puts the Patriots back on the road Wednesday to take on Osbourn Park High, a powerful squad that’s been ranked in the top spot of the Washington Post’s metro poll much of the season.
